Product Description

Shuttle Racking System

Shuttle Racking offers a high-density, bulk storage solution based on the FiLO concept (First in Last Out). The idea behind Radio Shuttle Systems is to provide a compact storage solution where a large quantity of pallets can be stored while taking up as little space as possible. It's main feature is to enable high density pallet storage but with reduced Forklift truck handling time. What Radio Shuttle Racking impacts most is time taken to marshal pallets with the aim to reduce pick time. Because stock rotation is semi-automatic it requires less use of a forklift truck where double handling might otherwise be required. Radio Shuttle Racking systems are configured to ensure improved inventory management. Radio Shuttle Racking is often configured so pallets containing similar product are stored together in quantities to match dispatch volumes. This means batches of pallets are easily retrieved to be loaded on to delivery vehicles. Every efficient warehouse or factory relies on good Inventory management where the location of each and every pallet can be identified, Radio Shuttle Racking provides for this.

Radio Shuttle Racking Design

Radio Shuttle Racking is built from traditional Pallet Racking frames and beams but configured to condense pallets as close together as possible. Instead of the traditional aisles you might find in a standard Pallet Racking system, Radio Shuttle Racking utilises lanes which run parallel to each other similar to a 100m running track and can be upto 20m in length. The lanes are designed to facilitate the automatic movement of pallets driven by radio controlled shuttles cars. The pallet rails are designed to accommodate both the pallet and the radio shuttle cars on different levels. The pallets sit on top of the rails while the shuttle carts run along a lower level and can pass freely along the full length of the rails unhindered by the pallets. The satallite cars also feature a hydralic lift mechanism which actives once positioned directly underneath a pallet. This enables each pallet to be lifted and moved into an accessible position.

Satellite Shuttle Racking in Use

With Radio Shuttle Racking systems, care must always be taken but it's operation and use is a very simple process. The first step to deposit a pallet requires the positioning of the shuttle car into the lane before any pallets. Utilising a remote control, the Forklift truck driver signals to the radio car to lift the pallet and manouver it to the back of the lane, the radio car then automatically returns to the front of the lane. The FLT driver then has two options, they can either position a second pallet in the lane above the car or the shuttle car can be transfered to a different lane. The process of depositing pallets is repeated until each lane is filled. It must be remebered that before the last pallet is placed, the radio shuttle car must be removed from the lane and returned to the charging bay when not in use. The unload process for each lane follows that of depositing pallets only performed in reverse.
