SEMA Approved Racking Inspections
WE CARE ABOUT YOUR SAFETY
Under Health and Safety Legislation, pallet racking is classed as work equipment, and as such inspections must be carried out at least once per year. The inspection should be conducted by an Approved Racking Inspector (SARI) who must produce a well-documented report of their findings. Failing to have an annual pallet racking inspection means you do not comply with legislative requirements.
At NEBCO racking safety is a top priority and we actively encourage all our customers to have annual inspections. Pallet racking is extremely vulnerable to impact damage from forklift trucks and can sometimes be very difficult to identify. If an elevated beam or rear-facing frame upright is damaged they are very often hidden from view particularly when the racking is fully stocked. A racking inspection is a process where the inspector methodically walks the perimeter of each run of racking while recording every instance of damage.
When damage is found the location is recorded as is the severity of the damage. A traffic light system is usually employed in order to indicate the action required and how soon it should be performed. If you would like to arrange a visit by one of our Approved racking inspectors please get in touch.
